Chinese Official Killed In Al Shabaab Attack

A Chinese armed officer is among 15 people killed when Somalian Al-Shabaab insurgents launched a car bomb attack on a heavily guarded hotel in the capital Mogadishu. Dozens were injured, including three Chinese nationals. The Chinese armed officer was transported to a hospital for treatment, but died from injuries. Three other members of staff were also injured.The Chinese Embassy in Somalia was partially damaged. The Embassy's offices are in the Jazera hotel, the site of the explosion. Xinhua News Agency said some of them are badly injured and receiving treatment. Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was retaliation for assaults by African Union and Somali troops.
