Egypt Divided Over Impact Of New Anti-terrorism Law

New counter-terrorism laws in Egypt have sparked mixed reactions across the country, days after President signed them into law. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi approved the stringent laws on Sunday to fight a growing Islamist insurgency. The laws establish special courts and offer additional protection for military and police officers who have used force. They also impose the death penalty for anyone convicted of terrorism.
