Egypt Economic Reforms: New Measures To Include Higher Taxes, Fewer Food Subsidies

After floating the Egyptian pound and lifting partial subsidies from energy products, the government is planning a second phase of economic reforms. Cabinet members have been drafting a plan to present to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for approval. The new measures are expected to include higher income taxes and reduced food subsidies.
