Egyptian Military: 11 People Killed, Including 8 Soldiers

Egyptian forces are trying to contain the aftermath of a deadly attack in the country's Sinai region. The Egyptian army says the militants had killed eight soldiers at a military checkpoint, and that three attackers had also been killed. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. The army has been battling an Islamist insurgency in northern Sinai for over two years. In recent months, a significant number of policemen and soldiers have been killed in attacks perpetrated by an Islamist organization affiliated to ISIL.
