Farmajo Announces 60-day Amnesty For Militants To Surrender

Somalia's President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has declared a 60-day amnesty period for al-Shabaab militants. If the insurgents surrender, he's promised them protection and training. Farmajo made the announcement as he declared war on the militant group. As part of efforts to address the security situation in Somalia, the president has also sacked a number of military, police and intelligence commanders. And announced a new governor and mayor for Mogadishu.
