Fears Of Strike Actions As Unions Reject Wage Hike Offer

There is growing concern of possible strike action in South Africa’s Gold mining sector. The National Union of Mineworkers and two other unions today rejected the offer put forward by the Chamber of Mines. It comes just two days after the Associated Mineworkers and Construction Union also rejected the proposed wage hike. The Chamber tabled its final offer agreeing to wage increases of between 13 and 17%. Sumitra Nydoo reports
