Firefighters have battled to get a fire on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in the city of Cape Town, under control. They struggled to contain the fires in Vredehoek and Oranjezicht areas as strong winds fanned the flames. Helicopters water bombed areas that were inaccessible to fighters. At least two residential structures were damaged but no injuries have been reported. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fires which are a common occurrence during the hot season.
