Domestic rice prices have more than doubled in Nigeria in the last two years due to an import ban and a drop in the country's currency. The government has also subsidised tractors, mills and fertilisers and made cheaper loans available attracting many people to the sector. But the farmers still face various challenges as they work to boost rice production in the country.
