Rwandan Embassy Snubs UN Event, Holds Peace Walk

Published
A peace walk commemorating the 23 years since the Rwandan Genocide, took place Friday in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. The event was attended by the Rwandan diaspora living in Kenya, dignitaries from both countries as well as Kenyans. The Rwandan embassy in Kenya chose to boycott a commemoration event by the United Nations in Nairobi. The Rwandan Ambassador expressed his displeasure with the United Nation's framing of the genocide, saying that the incident was not genocide in Rwanda, but in fact a Genocide of the Tutsis. In the period between April and June 1994, close to a million Tutsi's were killed in the country.
