Two-day Trials For Rio Olympic Games Underway In Kenya

Kenya's top athletes have been in action in the Rift Valley region of Iten as they seek to book a ticket to the Summer Olympics at the start of the two-day trials there. Olympic 5000 meters silver-medallist Vivian Cheruiyot stormed to victory in the women's 10,000 meters trials earlier at the Kipchoge Keino track. Athletes are gunning for a chance to represent Kenya at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. 47 athletes represented Kenya at the 2012 London Games and this year's team is expected to surpass that number. The trials are being held with the East African athletics powerhouse wary of the shadow of doping allegations. The country has been fighting against the clock to set up an anti-doping body after being found in breach of the rules by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
