Sudan's Foreign Secretary Warns That Country Could Collapse

Sudan is calling on the United States government to lift sanctions that are affecting all sectors of the country's economy. The US imposed comprehensive economic sanctions in 1997 because of Sudan's suspected links to terrorism then but these were extended in 2007 because of ongoing violence in Darfur. Banking and finance sectors, transport, healthcare, food production and telecommunications have all been affected. So too have the citizens.
