At Least 19 Dead In Twin Suicide Attack In North Cameroon

Published
At least 19 people have been killed and over 50 others injured in twin suicide attacks, in northern Cameroon. According to military sources, two men walked into a market in Meme in the north of the country, and blew themselves up. It was the first time the town of Meme has been targeted, but there have been previous assaults near the town of Mora, which lies near the border of north-eastern Nigeria. There has so far been no official claim of responsibility for the attack, but officials suspect the involvement of Nigeria-based Boko Haram, which has been blamed for a campaign of suicide attacks in neighbouring countries Cameroon, Chad and Niger over the past year. Nigeria, Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Benin have set up an 8,700-strong regional force tasked with wiping out Boko Haram.
