Celebration in streets of Mali as French troops ordered to leave

Published
Hundreds of people have been celebrating in the streets of Mali after the ruling military government ordered French troops out of the country.
Mali’s government is demanding the immediate departure of French and European forces, a day after France announced that it will withdraw its troops from the West African country.
While Mali wants them gone 'without delay', French president Macron says the process could take as long as six months, after a nearly 10-year mission against groups linked to al-Qaeda and ISIL (ISIS).

Al Jazeera’s Assed Baig reports from neighbouring Dakar, Senegal.
