Chinese Foreign Minister In Nigeria For Infrastructure And Security Talks

Published
Chinese Foreign Minsiter Wang Yi is on the final leg of his African tour. He's in Nigeria and has met with his counterpart Geoffrey Onyeama. The visit is seeking to build on the agreements struck at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit in late 2015 and President Buhari's own official visit to China, last April. Nigeria is a regional powerhouse - but its oil-dependent economy has been struggling - slipping into recession last year. China is a key partner, in trade, concession finance and investment. Talks focused on infrastructure and security cooperation.
