Congolese rumba joins UNESCO's World Heritage List

Born in the melting pot of 19th-century Cuba and re-exported to Africa in the early 20th century on vinyl, rumba music has come to represent the identity of Congolese people. The genre joined UNESCO’s list of global cultural treasures on Tuesday.
