15-year-old Alertha Banda has seen her female peers endure gender-based violence and harmful cultural practices in here country Malawi. The rate of teenage pregnancies is high in the southern African country. Girls who have babies are often forced an end their education, and usually get caught in spiral of dependency and poverty.
