The Battle of Chinhoyi (1966) is largely heralded as the start of the Second Chimurenga/Umvukela. Rumors/Theories that the engagement was a knee-jerk reaction by the ZANLA top brass in order to get recognition as the main nationalist military wing (as opposed to ZAPU's ZIPRA) have persisted.
