Doctors at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals have successfully carried out an open-heart surgery using a newly acquired heart-lung machine, significantly strengthening Zimbabwe’s public cardiac care capacity.
Specialist Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon Simukayi Percy Machawira described the equipment as a critical upgrade for the hospital, saying it enhances surgical precision, improves patient safety and expands access to life-saving heart procedures within the public health sector.
