Emmerson Mnangagwa To Be Sworn In As Interim President

Published
The new leader of Zimbabwe's ZANU-PF, Emmerson Mnangagwa, is expected to return home. According to the state broadcaster ZBC, he is due to sworn in as interim president on Friday. Analysts say Mnangagwa is likely to lead ZANU-PF into next year's elections. Robert Mugabe sacked Mnangagwa as vice president earlier this month. Fearing his safety, he fled the country. Mnangagwa's axing triggered the military action that placed Mugabe under house arrest -- and eventually led to his resignation on Tuesday night. Mugabe had led Zimbabwe for four decades.
