FIFA President Gianni Infantino has called on Ghana to take on a leading role in African football. Infantino was in Accra on Monday -- his fifth stop on a working tour of the continent which saw him visit South Africa, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Uganda. In Uganda, Infantino was keen to clarify that his visit was purely to advance development and was not political. There have been claims that Infantino is campaigning for the ousting of long-serving African football President Issa Hayatou. Infantino says FIFA will increase its funding to Africa by at least 70%. In Ghana, he praised the role the Black Stars have played in African football, saying he believes they can only get better.
