Zambia will hold general elections in mid-August, with about 8.7 million of the country's more than 21 million people registered to vote, pointing to a strong turnout. The rising cost of living and national debt have emerged as the defining issues, as President Hakainde Hichilema seeks re-election against 12 challengers, including opposition leader Brian Mundubile.
