Former head of the intelligence services (DIS) was on Tuesday arrested at the Sir Seretse Khama International Airport as he arrived from abroad.
As he arrived with his family from India, Kgosi was ambushed by a well prepared small crowd of law enforcement officers.
One of the officers served him with a warrant of arrest which he read before he was handcuffed.
After he was handcuffed Kgosi was put in a holding cell for searching.
He arrived from abroad accompanied by his wife and minor son.
The sting operation was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies that included DIS, Botswana Police, BURS (Botswana Unified Revenue Services) and the Military Intelligence.
According to information picked by Sunday Standard Kgosi had travelled to Dubai, Israel and India.
In India he had attending the wedding ceremony of Choppies CEO Ram Ottupath’s child.
The visibly shaken Kgosi started throwing tantrums.
“I have never been a criminal,” he said.
The operation was coordinated by the head of DIS, Peter Magosi, who Kgosi kept asking just what crime he had done.
To everybody’s shock at one point he said he was going to topple the Masisi Government.
Kgosi is expected to spend two nights in a cell most likely at the Botswana Defence Force headquarters in Mogoditshane to allow law enforcement agencies to search and peruse his properties for information and also anything illegal that might be found in his possession.
