Italy: Successful Ethiopian refugee entrepreneur killed on Trento farm

Published
An Ethiopian refugee who started her own cheese business in her adopted home country Italy was hammered to death on her goat farm in Trento, according to a police statement on Wednesday.

Agitu Ideo Gudeta was reportedly sexually assaulted and killed by one of her employees on her farm.

Locals had set up a small memorial site in front of Gudeta's home, leaving behinds notes and flowers.

"It's just unbelievable, she was loved by everyone here," said Alberto a neighbour.

Gudeta had fled Ethiopia in 2010, settling in Trento where she had started making goat cheese and beauty products on her farm 'The Happy Goat,' receiving positive attention for her success story at a time when hostilities towards migrants were spiking in Italy.
