Legal battle over the display of apartheid flag intensifies

Published
The legal battle about the public display of the apartheid flag ain't over. AfriForum is set to appeal the Equality Court's ruling on the display of the old South African flag. This comes after a ruling in August that the gratuitous display of the old flag amounted to hate speech. AfriForum says the fact that some people find the old flag offensive isn't sufficient reason for it to be declared hate speech. The group has further argued that the Equality Act doesn't regulate displays of the 1928 flag since the flag cannot reasonably be interpreted to be a word.
