This film was shot on location in Hotoro, Kano with people who deal drugs and consume drugs, resulting in conflict. They are categorically not actors. Those who live in Kano or nearby areas confirmed the authenticity of our story, yet it’s still hard to grasp. There is a serious issue here -individuals, many of them barely out of childhood, are already high on various substances in broad daylight. Kano is undeniably a beautiful city, but the slums are battling a significant drug problem.
What’s even more startling is how the drugs are brought into the city. The Godfathers aren’t your stereotypical criminals - they are individuals no one would ever suspect, an intricate web, that this film only scratched the surface of. What the crew experienced on this visit was unique and unexpected.
