MINER RESCUED AFTER EIGHT DAYS IN GOROMONZI MINE COLLAPSE
One miner was rescued alive on Friday after spending eight days trapped underground following a shaft collapse at Guernsey Gold Mine in Goromonzi, while his colleague died during the rescue operation.
The operation, which concluded yesterday, saw emergency teams overcoming unstable ground and heavy rains to retrieve survivor Pardon Ruvengo, who is now receiving medical care. Rescue teams confirmed the recovery effort was completed following sustained search and recovery operations at the site.
