Al-Shabaab militants have targeted an army base in central Somalia. More than 20 people were killed, including soldiers and miltiants. The attack took place in EL-Hareri. Officials say 18 militants, 5 soldiers, and a civilian died. Somalia has made significant gains against al-Shabaab in recent years. But the militant group has stepped up attacks against security forces and the African Union peacekeeping mission in the country. At the weekend the group staged a coordinated attack against a hotel in the capital, Mogadishu. At least 15 people died there, including a state minister.
