Nigerian authorities are warning citizens to avoid artificially ripened fruit. Calcium carbide enables retailers to move their fresh produce rapidly, as it ripens fruit quickly, making it ready to sell. However, regular consumption of calcium carbide can cause cancer, as well as heart, kidney and liver failure. CGTN's Phil Ihaza reports.
