Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta launched a 27km road to be built by China Road and Bridge Corporation and this is expected to ease traffic congestion in Kenya's capital. Chinese enterprise, CRBC designed the road and will construct it to the tune of 599 million US Dollars. The company is also expected to maintain the road for 30 years before handing it over to the Kenyan Government. The Nairobi Express way running alongside the existing Mombasa road will have 15 km on the ground and the remaining 11.2 km elevated as it approaches the CBD and the area of Westlands. During the flagging off, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said the road will be a game changer once it opens its doors to the public in December 2021. The project is also expected to create employment opportunities for people in Nairobi and Machakos counties. Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng witnessed the unveiling of the plaque by Kenyatta on Mombasa road to mark the beginning of the works on site.
