Racist hair ad triggers nationwide protests in South Africa

A racist advert by a shampoo company triggered protests at branches of the drugstore chain Clicks around the country. The ad for Tresemme showed showed photos of natural Black hair labeled "dry and damaged" alongside photos of white hair labeled "fine and flat" and "normal". The youth league of the ruling ANC and the opposition EFF called on South Africans to boycott the American hair care product and Clicks stores where the brand is sold.
