S. Africa’s largest trade unions call for a nationwide strike

Two of South Africa’s largest unions kicked off a national shutdown on Wednesday. But a majority of the working class citizens failed to heed the call. COSATU and SAFTU are hoping to bring the country to a standstill in a quest to raise concerns about the country’s ailing economy and the cost of living.
