The South African government is holding emergency talks with the mining industry with the aim of halting, what's turning into a jobs bloodbath.The emergency meeting was convened this week after global diversified miner Glencore announced that it was closing down one of its coal operations and retrenching hundreds of mineworkers. The South African Mining industry has been facing severe headwinds for some time now. 23,000 jobs in the sector have been lost since April alone.
