There has been a steady increase of Chinese investment in South Africa since the China-Africa Development Fund was announced in 2007. At that time there was an initial investment of 5 billion dollars. In 2015, China boosted that by a further 60 billion dollars at Forum on China Africa Cooperation, of which 7 billion dollars was allocated to South Africa.
