In Eswatini, public sector workers undertook a strike from September 23 to October 3 demanding for a cost of living adjustment to their wages. The striking employees have not been given a raise since 2016. The monarchical government has responded with heavy-handed repression to these demands and sought to get it declared illegal by the courts.
