Tunisia: Parties announce coalition against President Saied

Published
A group of political parties in Tunisia is forming a coalition to oppose President Kais Saied.
The group says Saied has lost his legitimacy, accusing him of a coup.
Last week, the president announced he would rule by decree and ignore parts of the constitution.
That is after he sacked Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and suspended parliament in July.
Saied says his actions were necessary to counter economic and political crises.

Cherif el-Kadhi, a Tunisian political commentator and former parliamentary officer, joins us on Zoom from Tunis for the latest updates.
