Uganda on alert as Kenya struggles to stop locust swarms

Authorities in Uganda have advised citizens to stock on food, as the alarming locust invasion raging through Eastern Africa approaches the border with Kenya.

The advisory was issued by the country's Government Citizen Interaction Center on Wednesday, following reports that the locusts had reached the Samburu and Turkana areas, a distance of just 166km form the border.
