A prominent author from Uganda has spoken out about why he fled his home country last month.

Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, a known critic of the Ugandan government, says he was tortured after being arrested in December.

He believes this was because of two books he published, one of which was a satirical critique of President Yoweri Museveni.

Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb reports.
