Zimbabwe is gearing up for election campaigns amid fears of a repeat of the hyperinflation seen more than a decade ago. Prices of basic commodities have seen a significant increase following a sharp weakening in the local currency. The Zim dollar has plunged more than 80 percent this year despite government efforts to boost it.
