Zimbabwe To Pass Amendments On Labour Laws

Zimbabwe parliament is expected to pass amendments to the country's labour laws in the wake of a wave of job terminations. Last month the Supreme Court handed down a judgment allowing employers to dismiss workers on short notice, resulting in a spate of layoffs across the country. The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions staged protests in the capital Harare over the dismissals and unions have vowed to not let the situation go unchallenged. Farai Mwakutuya reports
