There are fears in Zimbabwe that plans to introduce a new industry tax to fund a state owned mining exploration entity could force some mines to shut down. The government levy would transform the Minerals Marketing Corporation, into a mineral exploration company. However, at a time when commodity prices are sliding across the board, Farai Mwakutuya reports, that this the extra tax will hurt mining operations which are already struggling to stay afloat.
