Nigeria's is working on a law that will hand the death penalty to anyone found guilty of sea piracy. The country, like most countries around the Gulf of Guinea, has been battling sea piracy for a long time. In the past one year, the Nigerian Navy has succeeded in bring down incidents of sea piracy in the country's territorial waters and Senators are now moving to back the military effort with a law that will punish sea pirates with either a lifetime in jail or death as the case may be.
