South Africa Foreign Affairs Minister Holds Talks With 30 African Ambassadors

South Africa government has been trying to quell tensions between citizens and foreigners, following the recent spate of xenophobic attacks. Home Affairs Minister Melusi Gigaba convened a meeting with 30 African ambassadors on Friday. Gigaba told the ambassadors that the situation is now under control and he has assured the safety of foreign nationals living in South Africa. Anti-immigrant violence flared sporadically this week- mostly targeting Nigerians, Somalis and Pakistanis living in the country.
