UN Says Risk Of Genocide In South Sudan Has Considerably Diminished

In a related development, the UN now says the risk of genocide in South Sudan has considerably diminished, although fighting still remains. The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says his organisation is working closely with regional bodies, IGAD and the African Union to find a lasting solution to the fighting in South Sudan. The UN had warned that there were genocide signs in South Sudan. The report cited starvation and attacks on civilians by armed forces.
