11 skeletons found to be unethically obtained by the University of Cape Town in the 1920s

In 2018, the University of Cape Town announced that it had 11 skeletons in its human remains collection that were found to be unethically obtained by the institution in the 1920s. Further investigation revealed that nine could be traced back to the Roggeveld region, close to Sutherland in the Northern Cape. Eight of those originated from the same cemetery on a farm called Kruisrivier.
