It’s a sunny Sunday afternoon in August, and on a field in Cape Town’s Belgravia community, a group of grannies is breaking stereotypes — one goal at a time.
They’re the Soccer Grannies, and since November 2024, they’ve been dribbling, passing and shooting against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain.
The team was brought to the Mother City by 75-year-old Yasmin Johnson, who introduced the global phenomenon to Cape Town.
