Agriculture is a key economic driver in the Western Cape with more than half of all the country's exports coming from the province.

South African farmers continue to compete internationally against countries where farming is heavily subsidised.

At the beginning of 2025, the word 'tariff' became a big bell that rang across many sectors of the industry.

American President Donald Trump, announced varying percentages of tariffs to be imposed at the drop of a hat, with no clarity on implementation.

Despite 2025 bringing great uncertainty, the agricultural sector in the province still recorded successes.
