The ANC 5th National General Council kicks off today at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Ekurhuleni. ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is also expected to address delegates and give a political overview.

The ANC says that this General Council is being held as a mid-term policy and organisational review platform. Also that it serves as the highest decision-making structure between national conferences, focusing on Policy Refinement and Socio-Economic Frameworks, Organisational Assessment, Renewal, and Performance Review and Engagement with the ANC Alliance.
