ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa says efforts to prevent Gender-Based Violence need to be intensified and scaled up in all sectors of society.

He says police and other law enforcement agencies have taken a hard stance on organised crime in South Africa.

But he says, despite many successes in combating violent crime, extortion, kidnapping and illegal mining are still on the rise.
