The ANC is preparing for one of its most important gatherings in years. From December 8 to 11, the party will hold its National General Council at Birchwood in Boksburg. The meeting is a critical mid-term review.

It comes after historic electoral losses and amid growing questions about the party's renewal. Concerns also surround its performance in government and tensions within the Government of National Unity.

Political analyst, Professor Sethulego Matebesi from the University of the Free State, looks ahead the ANC National General Council starting tomorrow.
