The ANC Women's League has criticised the inconsistent application of gender parity across some ANC structures.
It says its appalling that 70 years after the Freedom Charter was adopted, women within the ANC are still largely viewed as suitable only for deputy positions or as additional members rather than leaders in their own right.
Recently, the ANC in Tshwane elected only one woman into the top five.
